Attachment-Based Family Therapy

This 4-hour in-person training offers a brief overview of the empirical and theoretical foundations of Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) and its 5 tasks of treatment. ABFT is an empirically supported, manualized brief treatment for suicidal youth and their families. This training is primarily lecture-based with some experiential application pieces for participants to practice the model themselves. Participants should expect to leave this training with an general understanding of how to guide the treatment of suicide-related thoughts and behaviors in a way that focuses upon the family process, emotion-focused, and sets up family therapy sessions to be as successful possible at providing corrective attachment experiences for suicidal youth.
